Voice of Truth - Christian Basics

Today, let's take a short look at the basics of a Christian life.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22
16Rejoice always;
17pray without ceasing;
18in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
19Do not quench the Spirit;
20do not despise prophetic utterances.
21But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;
22abstain from every form of evil.

Here we are given a brief summary of priorities for successful Christian living. Rejoice always even in the hard times, because God is in control. Pray regularly and God will speak to you. Give thanks for everything because it all belongs to God. He is the giver of every good and perfect gift. Notice these are all God's will for you. Don't quench the Spirit. Don't let sin quench the Spirit, because we are to be controlled by the Spirit. Don't despise the proclaiming of God's Word from the pulpit. Don't despise the reading of God's Word. But make sure we are testing all these things against God's Word. Uphold that which is found to be good, rejecting what is found to be unbiblical. If we are not living up to this list, the time to start is now. Have a great weekend and Rejoice, it is the will of God.
